Background check Chinese company via 'China Checkup'
Nowadays a new online service allows businesses to verify Chinese companies quickly and affordably. Creditreform(China) is one of the leading providers of credit and risk management support services and commercial information in China. It makes official registration checks on Chinese companies accessible to businesses around the world.
For many countries China is a very important import and export destination. Make china background check is an important step in making informed decisions and doing business safely in China. It can also help you to avoid becoming a part of China's booming fraud industry.
Matt Slater started his China business consulting company 2 years ago, and he is doing things differently to the rest. 'cnbizsearch' lets customers order Chinese company verifications online. The whole process takes place via a secure online payments system. The new service has already received a very positive feedback from the market.
"There needs to be an affordable and streamlined way to obtain this information, which more and more companies require. This is what we hope to provide through cnbizsearch."
Tips – How to avoid problems
Mr Slater also gave some recommendations for avoiding problems when doing business with Chinese companies:
1. Have a contract, and translate it into Chinese. The value of a clear contract isn't just to have something to fall back on if disputes arise. It also ensures that both parties are on the same page.
2. Make it very clear that you're serious about the relationship. Demonstrating commitment to the deal and its results from the start will serve to put off potential low-quality companies, and give high-quality companies the confidence to move forwards with you and your company. Make it clear from the beginning that you will be carrying out background checks, audits and quality inspections.
3. Take responsibility for quality. Don't make the mistake of assuming that the other party will 'fill in the gaps' or handle any oversights not fully specified. Assume that it's your responsibility to clearly and completely communicate your expectations.
4. Documents can be faked. Take the view that documentation you are shown is meaningless until you can independently verify it through background checks and confirmations with the issuing authority.
5. Also remember that you get what you pay for. Some people doing business with Chinese companies think that the usual relationship between cost and quality doesn't apply in China. This leads to deals going bad. China may be cheaper in general, but there is certainly a limit to this. Recognise that the other party also needs to make a fair profit; if you drive prices down too far, quality will inevitably be affected.

Fun With Segway!!
I've always thought Segways were really cool, and really wanted to play with one. I even begged to ride the one at the Macromedia offices on a few of my visits, but it was always in another building, or otherwise unavailable (I think they just didn't trust me with their expensive toy).
So, when Segway called me up and invited gskinner.com to design and build a mini-site for their brand new product line, I jumped at the chance. Work with a super cool, progressive client, building a site for an unreleased techno-gadget? Count me in.
As part of the project, they flew me in to New Hampshire to meet the team, and play with the new toys. There's a lot of really smart, personable folk at Segway, working on some really neat projects. Some of the work is targeted at consumers, like the newly announced i2 and x2 human transports and a lot of it is experimental, like Project Centaur and the Robotics Mobility Platform.
I had a really fun visit. The new product is awesome. In particular, the lean steering is incredibly intuitive, unlike the old handle-twist steering. The new machines also look a lot sleeker, have better security, and the wireless keyfob is pretty neat. I also got to ride the Centaur, which is basically a 4 wheeled, high-speed Segway – it's a little tricky to operate in it's current (experimental) state, but it's a really neat idea with a lot of potential – it's pretty sweet to be able to tear around in an ATV, then pop a wheelie to drive around balanced on two wheels. And people can buy cheap Segway online, it's convenience.
Segway's corporate culture was also really fun and creative. Every few weeks they have experimental Fridays (they had a good name for this, but I forget it), where the engineers run to the hardware store, buy some cheap parts, and whip something together in one day. I would have loved to have witnessed one of these, as they sound like a ton of fun. I've got to try to figure out how to squeeze out the time to do something like this in the office once a month with Flash. Teams of two or three building an experimental piece with the latest Flash features for a day.
Anyway, if you haven't already, head over to Segway.com and check out the new line.

Highly Personalised eCommerce snapping at the heels of traditional online stores
The June Business Essentials audio program features an interview of one of the Australian entrepreneurs responsible for the recently launched personalised online shoe store Shoes of Prey. After choosing a base style (flats, mid-heel, high-heel, sandal, ankle boot etc) the Shoes of Prey online shoe designer tool allows you to customise your shoe to the nth degree. You can choose from a wide range of colours and materials, add straps, bows and other add-ons, even customising the colour of the insole, and toe sole (yes they are different). You can interact with the look of your unique shoe as you customise it. The end result can be a truly unique pair of shoes, made exactly to your size requirements, or if you are spoiled for choices and can’t decide, the website shows you the designs other customers have created allowing you to select one of those instead (and then add your own personalisation).
This blog: Personalised Shopping Services: How a bunch of menswear retailers found the future of ecommerce describes seven different online mens clothes shopping which address the problem of men not liking shopping, but still wanting to look good and have new clothes. The retailers solve the problem in a variety of different ways, but personalisation is key – understanding the man’s size, shape, style preferences, budget, and then delivering to those preferences on a regular basis.
All of these examples make it clear that the next phase of ecommerce is here, and snapping at the heels of the “traditional” online stores. This phase of ecommerce takes personalisation to the next level. It’s not about personalising the person’s name in the emails you send and sending a birthday card & discount a few weeks before your customer’s birthday, it’s about combining the power of technology with personal service in order to provide exactly what each customer wants and needs.
I know where I will be ordering my next pair of shoes … it might even be worth a trip to Sydney to try on the various sizes and base shoe styles in the Shoes of Prey range.
The following points are clear from the stories of the abovementioned online stores:
The existing marketplace vendors believed that personlisation of their products was too hard
There certainly were lots of difficulties to overcome and significant effort required in order to support a personalised service – this lead some retailers taking on the manufacturing themselves
The more highly personalised model has delivered rapid growth of market share for the entrepreneurs who took on and solved the challenges
Customers receiving a highly personal service are likely to spend more, spend more often, and have greater loyalty to the store
I’ve been banging on about richer personalisation, particularly as it relates to email marketing, since the launch of eNudge in 2006. Marketers have been talking about marketing to an audience of one for about the same length of time.
Now that the greater personalisation is being experienced by consumers via solutions like those described above, all businesses need to think about how they can provide a more personalised service, creating customers who don’t want to go anywhere else. If you are already providing a personalised product through your online store, you still need to think about how you can take that up a notch … for example, think about the monthly service provided by one of the male clothing store vendors, sending a regular package to their customers to rent, buy or send back. It’s proactive, not reactive, but isn’t just sending the same things to everyone – the service is personalised based on in depth knowledge of each customer.
Perhaps you would like help to take your ecommerce store to a higher level of personalisation, or perhaps take your offline solution onto the internet providing a highly customised experience? I believe there are similar opportunities for B2B solutions and professional services. We need to stop thinking “it’s too hard” and start working out ways it can be done utilising a combination of technology and customer service.

Document Legalization: Jurisdictional Issues
Three Key Questions to Ask Before Getting Started on a Legalization Project
Where is the document from?
Where will the document be used?
What type of document is it?
The answers to these questions can have a significant impact on how to proceed. Below are a few examples of how to approach a legalization project based on whether the originating and destination countries have signed onto the Hague Convention on Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents.
Example 1: You need to use documents from Japan (Hague party country) in the U.S. (Hague party country) and in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (non-Hague party country). What you need: Japanese apostille for U.S. and Japanese authentication with UAE legalization for UAE.
Example 2: You need to use documents from China (non-Hague party country) in the U.S. (Hague party country) and in Brazil (non-Hague party country). What you need: Chinese authentication with legalization at U.S. and Brazilian embassy/consulate inChina.
The type of document, in certain circumstances, can be very important. Sometimes documents such as passports, educational or personal documents must be sent to one consular office, while commercial documents must be sent to another. Certain consular offices may refuse to legalize certain document types altogether, but their sister offices may accept them. Different types of documents may also require different procedures (such as Algeria only requiring translations for a Power of Attorney) or different fees (such as a fee of $30 for Good Standings, and a fee of $600 for most other corporate documents at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates). And for many Arab countries, commercial invoices require an additional step of certification by the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce.
Procedures Can Vary Greatly Between Consular Offices for Same Country
Sometimes, the regions covered by different consular offices for a particular country overlap. In these situations, it is usually best to determine if there will be a benefit in working with one office over another. For example, when legalizing a document, some consular offices require only that a document be notarized due to the fact that the notary is registered within a specific territory. Conversely, sometimes it is necessary to have a document notarized, certified by a county clerk, authenticated by a Secretary of State, authenticated by the U.S. Department of State and even certified by a trade group before it can be legalized by the consulate. In some cases, going to one consular office versus another can make a big difference in terms of turnaround time, level of complexity and the cost associated with these projects.
Getting Accurate Information Can Be a Challenge
Most embassies/consulates post their jurisdictional policies and procedures online. The information on these websites, however, is often out of date and inaccurate. In some cases, the websites are not even in English. We have even seen one example of an embassy website containing a scam because it was set up to be editable by the general public, like a “wiki” site, but postings have clearly not been monitored.
There are also books published on the subject of document legalization/authentication, but due to frequent changes in policies and procedures, these are often outdated, even with annual publishing. (It is not unusual for embassies in Washington, D.C., for example, to change their rules on jurisdictional policy more than once a year.)
The bottom line is that if you are going to handle any legalization project, answer the three questions listed above and then start digging. Realize that the rules and procedures change all the time so you can’t assume something will be handled the same exact way as in the past. By doing your “homework” or working with a service company that is experienced in document legalization, you can help to minimize or eliminate delays and frustration.

Reducing your greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint
If you've made the decision to help promote a cleaner, greener footprint by reducing your carbon footprint, chances are you might be wondering exactly how to be eco-friendly and which steps you can take to get started. Here are three different things that you can do to personally reduce greenhouse gas emissions here in Canada.
Use Less Energy at Home
The first step to take when figuring out how to reduce your carbon footprint is as simple as the flick of a switch –literally. It may sound like something you would teach a child, but simply turning off the lights in a room when they aren't needed is very important. In addition to that, try unplugging your electronics when they aren't in use. Believe it or not, some experts suggest that unplugging unused TVs, printers, phone chargers and other electronics when they aren't in use can save up to 10% or more on your monthly utility bill. That also translates to a reduction in greenhouse emissions.
In the market for new home appliances? Be sure to select models with superior energy efficiency. The technology behind many appliances, such as refrigerators has allowed for incredible improvements in efficiency. Thanks to green technologies, a refrigerator made today is 40% more efficient than one made only ten years ago.
Eat for Efficiency
You may have heard all about the growing movement toward eating more locally grown or raised food. This is a great way to preserve the livelihoods of local farmers and to enjoy fresher, tastier foods. But did you know that eating locally helps to reduce your carbon footprint?
It's estimated that on average, food travels between 2,400 km to 3,200 km from its point of origin to the consumer. This distance results in an incredibly large footprint. However, if you choose to eat locally from farmers' markets or by joining a CSA (community supported agriculture) system you can help reduce the need for shipping and extraneous packaging.
Ride a Scooteretti Scooter Electric or Bike!
Making a change in your mode of transit is an excellent way to do your part in the reduction of greenhouse gas. When you switch from driving a car to an electric scooter or bike you can save money on insurance, licensing and best of all, you'll be able to reduce your carbon footprint in a significant (and stylish) way.
Electric bikes and scooter are now accepted on most roads in Ontario. They can be ridden at a maximum speed of 32 kilometers per hour, following Transit Canada's regulations for ebikes.
Scooteretti ebikes and scooters are durable, sleek and fun to ride. They're the perfect mode of eco-friendly transportation, whether you live in the heart of the city or in the suburbs.
